The attack goes under alot of names, such as Raikiri(Which means Lightning Edge), and Chidori, which means 1000 birds.
Most of the time its called Chidori, cause it sounds like the chirping(?) of a thousand birds.
The name Raikiri(Lightning Edge), was given to Chidori, cause its said that Kakashi once cut through lightning with it.

its called raikiri or lightning blade/edge. chidori is sasuke’s move because it chirps louder and it looks different when its activated. raikiri has a circle around it on the ground(look at the pic). chidori doesnt, and sasuke usually drags it through the ground while he runs.

Lightning Edge, 1000 birds, Chidori, Raikiri – ALL THE SAME THING.
Lightning Edge/Blade is the name of this technique on English, while Chidori and Raikiri are on Japanese.
This is Kakashi’s only original move. The technique can be used when the user applies great ammount of chakra on the palm of his hand, and applies nature manipulation on that same chakra, in Kakashi’s case, lightning element manipulation. Nature manipulation creates that chirping sound, and hencefore – Chidori – 1000 birds.
The name Lightning Blade/Edge comes from the rumor that Kakashi cut through lightning itself with it.
The technique is A-level, and it can’t be used unless the user posseses the Sharingan Eye(s), so that he can predict movements of target.
Uchiha Itachi and Uchiha Sasuke use the same technique through the anime, in their own styles, however, the basics is the same.
About the picture – it’s right after Sasuke’s fight with that Sound guy and Kakashi’s Cursed Seal sealing – Orochimaru came to “chat” a little bit with Kakashi, which ended in ridiculous way – Orochimaru just left the place with a smile on his face, while Kakashi realised where is his place – among other Jounins which can’t even stand next to Sannin, let alone compare.

Just stfu and read the manga or watch the show! Kakashi himself explains that chidori and raikiri(wich translates to either lightning edge or blade.) is the same move. Kakashi once cut through lightning using chidori, thus giving it the NICKNAME raikiri.
Kakashi himself explains this during the finals of the chuunin exams while Sasuke-teme is about to use it on Gaara. If you don’t believe me just look it up in the afore mentioned episode.

that’s the ninjutsu chidori/raikiri a.k.a. in english 1000 birds/lightening blade/edge. he’s using it to protect sasuke after his battle with on of the sound ninja in the 3rd round of the tests preliminarys. the curse mark “acted-up” (for lack of a better term) and kakashi had to put a seal on it. Orochimaru kinda popped up outta no where and kakashi was prepared to fight orochimaru with his chidori. it is later learned he teaches this technique to sasuke because of their similarities.

I like Naurto. I love Ino, Naruto, Neji, Sakura, Temari, Gaara, Kakashi (favorites)and Sasuke (a little bit…) The episodes and plots are cool and it’s a good show. But personally i think that the fact that we have to guess what Kakashi is doing is just dumb. Some of the people above me may care but i sure as hell don’t. it’s the move created by kakashi himself!! it’s raikiri!!!! everybody who is saying the move is raikiri then he/she is right. we know this because we know that when kakashi uses chidori, he always copies it using sharingan and in the wallpaper above the sharingan eye is not open so, it is the move raikiri!!!!!!! whoever is saying the move is chidori then he/she should watch the episode again!!!!!!!

My answer is chidori because if you put a kunai blade in your hands that have a chidori, the chidori will become a lightning blade and in the picture kakashi doesn’t have any kunai blade
